Brian W. Walsh
Brian Walsh received his A.B. from the University of California at Berkeley, graduating with High Honors in English, and Phi Betta Kappa admission upon graduation in 1982. He earned his J.D. from the University of California’s Hastings College of Law in 1986.
Brian has been litigating coverage and bad faith cases and advising insurance company clients since 1988. Before joining Woolls Peer Dollinger & Scher, Brian was Managing Attorney of the California office of Elenius Frost & Walsh, the CNA Legal Department’s litigation and coverage unit, from 2010 through 2018. Previously, he had served as Senior Trial Counsel in the CNA staff coverage counsel unit from 1997 through 2010. After law school, Brian served as a Deputy District Attorney in the Orange County District Attorney’s Office; then switched to civil practice at law firms including Long & Levit and Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, through 1997.
Brian has tried coverage and bad faith cases in California state and federal court, as well as state and federal courts in Washington, Oregon and Montana; and has regularly appeared in appellate courts in those jurisdictions, including the Ninth and Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Brian lead large litigation teams in nationwide, multi-district coverage actions involving football concussion, Chinese Drywall, and other emerging tort areas. He has advised insurance company claims and legal department management on coverage and extra-contractual issues in environmental and mass tort, construction defect, toxic exposures, marine, and general liability third party claims.
