Farah Z. Alkayed
Farah Alkayed was born in Jordan, and raised in the Middle East while spending her summers in the US. Farah had a keen and early interest in law, which led her to pursue an undergraduate degree in law at the University of Jordan during which she participated in the Willem C. Vis. International Arbitration Moot Court, and graduated second in the class of January 2010. Farah later relocated to Los Angeles and enrolled at the University Of Southern California Gould School Of Law where she earned an LLM degree in 2011 with a focus on business law classes. After her masters, Farah clerked at the Office of the California Attorney General working under the Civil Division Chief Assistant.
Before enrolling at Indiana University Maurer School of Law
and earning her Juris Doctorate Degree in May 2016, Farah worked in the
litigation department of a top tier law firm in Jordan handling commercial
litigation matters. At Maurer, Farah’s interest in litigation was anchored
further as she participated in the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition, and a
year later served on the Competition’s Board as an Executive Competition
Coordinator while also working at Indiana University Student Legal Services managing
civil litigation and minor criminal matters for two years. Farah’s commitment
to the Maurer community was strong where she served as a JD Affiliate for the
Center for Constitutional Democracy, the Vice President of the Business Law
Society and Founder and President of the Middle Eastern Law Students
To gain sufficient exposure to transactional matters, Farah
clerked at Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen
and Loewy handling business immigration matters after her first year in law
school, and worked as a summer associate at Cisco Systems Inc. after her second
year tackling transactional matters in various fields including intellectual property,
employment law as well as national security and health care regulations.
Farah sat for the California
State Bar in July 2016, and was admitted in December 2016, and prior to joining
WPDS she worked for a boutique litigation firm in Downtown Los Angeles
handling commercial litigation matters.
